Preparation Time : 15 minutes
Cooking Time : 10 minutes
Dal Soaking Time : 4 to 5 hours
Ingredients :
- 2 cups Split Moong Dal
- 1 1/2 cup Chana Dal
- 1 1/2 inch of ginger
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- 2 - 3 green chilli (optional)
- 1 diced onion
- Salt to taste
- Chat Masala
- 1/2 tsp of Black Pepper Powder and Jeera Powder
- 1 tsp of whole coriander seeds (dry roasted and powdered)
- 2 tbsp of Besan
- 1 cup (leftover rice or soaked poha)
- Coriander Leaves
- Oil to fry
Note : You can even add palak or methi in this to make it more tastier
How to prepare :
- Soak Moong Dal and Chana Dal seperately for 4 to 5 years
- remove 2 to 3 tbsp of chana dal and moong dal to add in the batter for crispiest vadas.
- Grind both the dal's together adding ginger, chillis, garlic
- Remove the batter in a mixing bowl
- Add soaked poha or rice and besan
- Add salt and a pinch of chat masala
- Add the remaning dals to it
- Add Black Pepper, Jeera and Coriander seeds powder to it
- Add coriander leaves
- Add diced Onion
- Mix everything nicely and keep it aside for 15 minutes
Cooking Method :
Heat Oil in a Kadhai
- Once the oil is hot enough add 1 tsp of hot oil to the batter for soft and crunchy vadas.
- Make a ball size vada and deep fry
- To make the vadas more crunchy press them a little and deep fry them again
Serve with your favourite chutney or kethcup.
