Dahi Vada

Preparation Time : 20 minutes
Soaking Time : 3-4 hours
Cooking Time : 20 minutes
Serves : 3-4

Ingredients :
  • 1 cup urad dal
  • 2-3 green chillis
  • 1/2 ginger grated (optional)
  • salt to taste
  • oil for deep frying
  • Curd - 500 gms
  • coriander powder
  • red chili powder
  • cumin powder
  • chutneys (sweet / spicy) - optional
  • 2-3 glass of water to soak vadas after frying
  • 4-5 spoons of sugar to sweeten the curd (optional)

How to prepare :
  • Soak Urad dal for about 3-4 hours, drain and grind in grinder to a smooth batter for making vadas.
  • Mix curd and sugar and referigerate it till you prepare vadas.
  • Add salt, grated chilis and ginger to the batter and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a wok and deep fry the vadas and once they are slight cool soak them in the bowl of water till they are soft.
  • Remove excess water from the vadas by pressing it with both the palms and remove it in a plate
  • Add sweeted curd , sprinkle salt, cumin powder, red chilli , corriander powder on the dahi vadas.
  • Add sweet and spicy chutneys on top of it (optional)
  • Serve the delicious dahi vada.
