Gujrati Khandvi

Khandvi is one of the best gujrati farshan , quick easy and melt in mouth delicious. 

With very little ingredients which are available at home this is surely a must make :) 

Preparation Time : 10 minutes 
Cooking Time : 10-12 minutes 

Ingredients : 

  • 1/2 cup gram flour (besan) 
  • 1/4 cup curd with 1 cup water or 1 1/2 cup butter milk 
  • 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp of chili ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp of chili paste or crushed chilis  
  • 1/2 tsp of coconut powder
  • 1 tsp of oil 
  • pinch of turmeric powder 
  • pinch of asafoetida 
  • salt to taste 
  • a greased plate (grease oil on the backside of the plate) 

How to prepare : 

  • In a mixing bowl take gram flour and add salt,turmeric powder , asafoetida, ginger chilli paste, curd or buttermilk and whisk nicely. 
  • In a nonstick pan or kadhai put the mixture and start whisking again / stir continuously so no lumps are form and cook on a slow flame. 
  • The batter should not be too thick or too thin. Add a drop of oil and whisk again 
  • On a greased plate spread the gram flour batter (as shown in the picture) and let it cool and cut it in stripes and sart rolling it gently from one end to other (as show in the picture) 
  • Decorate it in a plate and add coconut powder to it and keep aside. 
  • In a small wok add 1 tsp of oil and add asafoetida and mustard seeds and once the seeds splutter add the tempering (tadka) to the khandvi... 
  • The delicious mouth watering khandvi is ready :)
