Ingredients :
- 2 cups Rajma beans (red kidney beans)
- 1 large onion diced into small pieces
- 3 tomatoes diced into small pieces
- 2 green or red chillis
- 2 garlic cloves
- some ginger grated (optional)
- salt tot taste
- 1 tsp of rajma masala
- 1/2 tsp of amchur powder (optional)
- 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder
- less than 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
- 1/2 lemon to squeeze
- pinch of sugar and asafoetida
- 1 tsp of oil
How to prepare :
- Wash and soak Rajma beans overnight and pressure cook it with 2-3 whistles
- Open the cooker lid and remove the excess water in a container to use later.
- Dice onion and tomatoes and onions.
- Heat a tsp of oil and add asafoetida and red chillis into it.
- Add diced onion and saute till they turn translucent.
- Add tomatoes , ginger garlic and salt and mix well .
- Cook the tomatoes till they become soft , pulpy.
- Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, amchur powder,rajma masala powder and mix well.
- Add little sugar.
- Add the water which we kept aside from the cooker and let the gravy boiled till it becomes little thick and the masalas are absorbed nicely.
- Squeeze lemon and serve
- Serve it with chawal (rice) , parathas , onions, lemons
