Wheat Flour Malpua

Wheat Flour Malpua ... Lip Smacking Dish :)

Made these Lip Smacking dipped sugar syrup flat pancakes longback but couldnt get a good occasion to blog the recipe.

Now as Holi is around the corner here is a must try recipe :)

Preparation Time : 10 minutes
Cooking Time :  30-40 minutes

Ingredients For Malpuas

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 5 tbsp powdered sugar ( you can use 1 or 2 tbsp also)
  • 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder
  • pinch of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk and some water as required to make batter
  • Ghee for pan frying Malpua Pancakes
  • 12-15 pistachio blanched and slice or Everest Milk Masala Powder
  • 3 to 4 strands of saffron to add in batter
Adding 1/2 cup curd or yogurt is optional as I havent used it for making this.

Ingredients For Sugar Syrup

  • 1  cup sugar or more (adjust as per your taste)
  • 1 cup water
  • 3-4 saffron strands (optional)

How to prepare :

  • In a mixing bowl add wheat flour, cardamom powder, sugar, baking soda, saffron strands and mix well.
  • Add milk and water as required and form a batter. Batter should not be too runny and the consistency should be of dosa batter not the chilla batter. Cover and keep it aside for 30-45 minutes. You may opt to only add milk and no water also.
  • Lets start preparing sugar syrup in a meanwhile.
  • In a bottom vessel heat water and add sugar till a semi think consistency and add safron strands. Syrup should be not very thick.
  • Time to pan fry the malpuas.
  • Heat ghee in a pan and once the ghee is hot ennough pour a batter in a circular movement as we do for making chilas (fill ladle full) and fry on both the sides till it  turns brown or red and crispy.
  • Serve it in a serving plate and add sugar syrup on top of it.
  • You can also soak them in the sugar syrup (i prefer the 1st option) .
  • Add pistachio powder or milk masala powder on top of it.
  • Rabdi goes well with malpuas but if you have no time preparing rabdi you can always add Condensed Milk on top of it and enjoy.
