Dal Fry (Mix of 5 Dals)

Ingredients : 1 Cup of Mix Dal (Toor, Udad, Yellow & Green Moong Dal and Chana Daal). 1 small onion,1 tomato, 2 green chillis, 1 red chilli cut in half, 2 -3 curry leaves, ginger garlic paste, a pinch of asafoetida, salt as per taste, turmeric and red chilli powder, 1 spoon of jeera. 1 spoon of ghee or oil (ghee enchanced the taste and richness of dal so i prefer to use ghee.

wash and soak dal for half and hour and pressure cook for 2 whistles. now in a frying pan or kadhai add 1 spoon of ghee and add asafoetida and jeera. let it crackle and now add green chillis and curry leaves and saute for a minute. Now add ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute and add onions and tomato. Saute till onions get pink or brown and tomatoes are little pulpy. Time to add salt, turmeric powder and chilli powder. Add dal and mix it and let it simmer till it gets little thick. add some water and mix it will. now in another small kadhai add little ghee and some more jeera, red chilli powder and red chillis and add it on top of the dal to see the red color tadka on it. I added lemon too but it is completely optional. Serve it with hot rotis or Plain rice or jeera rice. Yum !
