Tomato Soup

Tomato Soup. The basic ingredient used are tomatoes and also have added bottlegourd , beetroot, onion,carrots. Its best to have soups during winters for soothing your throat or any other rainy day. 

This delicious soup needs no reason to have. 


Preparation Time : 10 minutes 
Cooking Time      : 15 minutes 
Serves                  :  2

Ingredients : 
  • 3 large tomatoes 
  • 1/2 bottlegourd 
  • 2 carrots 
  • 1 onion 
  • salt to taste 
  • pinch of sugar 
  • cumin seeds to temper 
  • 1/2 tsp  of corn starch 
  • 1 tsp of ghee 
  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder 
  • 1/3 tsp of red chili powder (optional) 
  • 2 cloves of garlic (optional) 
  • croutons for soup 
  • mint leaves optional 
  • few black pepper powder to sprinkle on soup 

  • How to prepare : 

  • Remove the skin of bottlegourd , Carrot, Beetroot, Onion and cut them in big chunks 
  • Cut Tomatoes too in big chunks with the skin. 
  • Wash the vegetables nicely and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles 
  • Once they are pressure cooked blend them in blender in a smooth puree 
  • Strain the soup with the help of strainer to remove tomato seeds 
  • Mix corn flour with a spoon of water and keep aside 
  • Heat a spoon of ghee in a pan , add cumin seeds and once it splutter add strained soup to it
  • Add salt, sugar , turmeric powder, chili powder, garlic, corn starch and mix well. 
  • Let the soup boil for 10-15 minutes till it changes the color and becomes thick. 
  • Sprinkle some black pepper powder , add mint leaves , bread croutons 
  • Serve hot.
