Preparation Time : 10 minutes
Cooking Time : 15 minutes
Serves - 2 to 4
Ingredients :
- 3 cups of corn flakes
- 1 cup of peanuts
- 1/2 cup of roasted chana dal or daliya
- 1/2 cup of cashews and raisins
- 15 to 20 curry leaves
- 5-7 green chilis
- oil to fry
- salt to taste
- sugar to taste (granulated sugar or powdered sugar)
- - I took 1/2 cup of sugar as we prefer to have sweet chivda
- 1/2 tsp of red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
How to prepare :
- - Heat oil in a wok or a saucepan or kadhai
- -Once the oil is hot enough start frying With the help of deep frying skimmer spoon or spider spoon (large net spoon) start frying
- - Put Corn Flakes in the spoon and start frying and start putting things in a big mixing bowl
- - Put some peanuts in the deep frying spoon and put the spoon in the oil and fry.
- - Remember you dont have to put everything in the kadhai but everything in the spoon (as shown in the picture) and fry.
- - This way you will be using less oil and with the flame on medium high you will be able to have a yummy fried chivda too.
- - putting flame on medium high will always keep the oil hot enough and will help in frying things fast.
- - Fry roasted chana dal and add to the corn flakes and peanuts
- - Add fried chilis and curry leaves
- - Add fried cashews and raisins
- - Once everything is added in the mixing bowl except the salt sugar and masalas let them cool for about 15 to 20 minutes or max half and hour
- - In a small bowl mix sugar, salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder.
- - Now add this on the chivda and mix everthing (toss nicely) upside down.
- - Pack the chivda in an airtight zipper or plastic bag and then store in an airtight container for long lasting taste.
