Ultra delicious dudhi no halwo or lauki ka halwa :)
Step 4 : Once the milk starts getting absorb (as per the above 2nd picture) add sugar , cardamon powder, milk powder and mix well.
Step 5 : Mix everything nicely and let it get cooked for about 15 more minutes till the milk is absorbed as per picture 6. Halwa is ready as per picture 7.
Preparation Time : 15 minutes
Cooking Time : 30-40 minutes
Serves : 2-4
Ingredients :
- 1 medium size bottlegourd grated or 2-3 cups of grated bottlegourd
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1/2 tsp of cardamon powder
- 1/2 cup of milk powder
- 1 cup of milk
- less than 1/2 cup of sugar
- dryfruits mix or one (i used sliced almonds)
How to prepare : (recipe is alongwith pictures and steps mention above the pictures.
Step 1 : Wash dudhi / lauki nicely and grate it alongwith the skin or without skin.
Step 2 : Heat a tbsp of melted ghee in a nonstick pan or a wok and add grated dudhi and cover the lid and let it get cooked for 5-7 minutes till it changes its color. The quantity will also get less.
Step 3 : Add milk and mix everything nicely. Do not cover the lid after the milk is added and let the dudhi get cooked nicely in the milk on a medium low flame. Mix it in every 3-4 minutes so it doesnt get stick to the sides of the PAN or at the bottom.
Step 4 : Once the milk starts getting absorb (as per the above 2nd picture) add sugar , cardamon powder, milk powder and mix well.

Step 6 : Finally add sliced / grated almonds. You may roast almonds , cashews and raisins in a tsp of ghee and then add. Adjust sugar as per your taste.
