Rava Kesari
This golden beauty is surely going to win hearts. The melt in the mouth sweete dish made during occasions or festivals.
Ingredients :
- 1 cup Semolina or Rava
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup of melted ghee
- 1/2 cup of mix chopped dryfruits (pistachios, almonds, cashews, raisins)
- 2 cups of water
- 1/2 cup of warm milk
- 8-10 saffron strands
- pinch of cardamon powder
- 1/2 banana crushed
How to prepare :
- In a vessel add 2 cups of water to heat
- Add saffron strands in a wark milk and keep aside.
- Heat a saucepan and add Semolina or Rava and roast till it turns golden brown.
- Put the flame on medium high and saute.
- This process may take around 15-20 minutes but it also helps in making your sheera smooth and less sticky.
- Once the rava is roasted you may see the change in its color from white to little golden brown.
- Add 2 to 3 tbsp of ghee and cardamon powder and roast again for 2 minutes.
- Remove the roasted rava in a plate and keep it aside.
- Add the remaining ghee in a saucepan and roast dryfruits except raisins which we will add in the last
- Once the dryfruits are roasted add the roasted semonlina and mix everything nicely
- Add saffron milk to it and mix again.
- By this time the color of the sheera must have been golden yellowish or orangish in color
- Add warm/ hot water to the mixture and keep stirring till the water and milk gets absorbed and you can see ghee leaving the sides of the pan.
- Add sugar once the water is absorbed.
- Add 2 tbsp of ghee again. (Note the more you add ghee to it the soft and tastier) your sheera will be :)
- Add crushed banana and mix well. Adding this makes it more yummy (the one we get during satyanarayana pooja prasad)
- Remove it in a serving bowl and add decorate with raisins and also other dryfruits to it
Enjoy it without any guilt :) :)
