Besan Cheela

Zucchini Onion Besan Cheela 




Besan Cheela or Pudla is a quick breakfast recipe and easy to make. Serve your taste buds during winters having this tastier chila adding your choice of vegetables alongwith chutneys or ketchups.

Lets check out the recipe of  Zucchini Onion Besan ka Cheela which is super delicious and stomach filling and enjoy it during cool winters or on a rainy day :)


Ingredients :


  • 1 1/2 cup of besan or gram flour 
  • 1 medium size zucchini chopped or shredded 
  • 1 medium size onion chopped or shredded 
  • 1/2 tomato chopped or shredded 
  • 2 cloves of garlic chopped or garlic paste 
  • 3-4 small pieces of ginger chopped or ginger paste 
  • 5-6 pudina or mint leaves chopped 
  • salt to taste 
  • 1/2 tbsp of sugar 
  • 1 tbsp of  red chili powder 
  • 1 tbsp of turmeric powder 
  • 1 tbsp of coriander cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp of some ajwain seeds or celery seeds 
  • 1 tsp of lemon juice 
  • 1 glass of water for mixing the batter 
Note : You can either chopped the veggies or shred them as per your choice and also you can add more veggies like capsicum, cabbage , cucumber and even green chilis for more spice. I love them crunchy so have just chopped them and added. 

How to prepare : 

  • In a mixing bowl add besan or gram flour and add ajwain seeds, turmeric powder,chili powder, coriander cumin powder, salt, sugar and mix them nicely. 
  • Add little water at a time and mix it with spoon so no lumps are formed. 
  • Batter should be not too thick or too runny. It should be a medium thick consistency. 
  • Add lemon juice and mix again. 
  • Let the batter settle for 10 mins. Time to chop the veggies 
  • Add the chopped veggies (zucchini, onion, tomato, ginger,garlic,mint leaves) to the batter and mix everything nicely. 
  • Taste the batter and add or adjust the salt , spice according to your taste. 
  • Heat a nonstick pan , add 1 tsp of oil and pour the batter on it to form a cheela 
  • Cook from both the sides till golden brown and cooked properly 
  • Serve it hot with chutneys, ketchups, fruit jams, tea and also other way to have it is in between bread. 
  • Serve your taste bud !
